On 24 February 2019, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new scheme “PRADHAN MANTRI KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI YOJANA” in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh to benefit the farmers. In this scheme, the farmers will benefit from Rs. 6,000 in 3 installments with Rs. 2,000 every year. This money will be given to farmers straight into their bank accounts. In starting farmers with land size of 2 hectares were eligible to apply for this scheme. But few changes have been made in the scheme in which every farmer around India can benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Till now crores of farmers in India have benefited from this scheme.
