Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a new initiative to enhance crop productivity and establish agricultural clusters in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand. The “Agriculture Development and Rural Entrepreneurship Strengthening (UP-AGREES)” programme, supported by the World Bank, seeks to rejuvenate the agricultural sector and promote agriculture-based industries.
The programme will focus on developing crop clusters for groundnut, chilli, and green peas, while also creating new industry clusters to boost exports. Farmers will receive training abroad in advanced technologies, and financial support will be provided to bolster the agriculture sector.
Adityanath emphasized the state’s vast agricultural potential and proposed the creation of an export hub near Jewar Airport to further enhance agricultural exports.
